About

At the end of 2020, I passed on my pottery supplies business so I could concentrate on making my own work again. I also taught Art and Ceramics for 20 years whilst running the business.

My love for clay began 1980 when I attended night classes at Eastbourne College of Art and Technology but were interrupted with bringing up my daughter, son and life! I attended Tonbridge Adult Art Centre in 1991 and attained a City and Guilds in Ceramics which stood me in good stead for starting Hesketh Potters Supplies in 1992.

I work from my lovely studio in Seaford in East Sussex and now prefer to hand build rather than throw on my wheel. I use a white, molochite based clay from Commercial Clay which withstands the rigours of Raku Firing, underglazes for colour and a clear Raku glaze. Occasionally I burnish and smoke fire pieces.

With my stoneware pieces, I mainly use washes of underglazes and the occasional spot or two of clear glaze to accentuate eyes etc. I fire in an electric kiln.

I don't take commissions and all of my pieces are individually made.
